Smartle is a language and word puzzle game that focuses on challenging and building a player's knowledge and skills. The player receives a mix of 25 unique letter tiles arranged in a grid pattern. They must rearrange the tiles to create five real words per puzzle. They also compete against other global players to rank high on a leaderboard.
The game offers Daily and Sprint modes. With Daily, the player tries to solve one puzzle at their own pace. They receive one hint, known in-game as advice. They can also play puzzles from previous days. With Sprint, they attempt to solve five puzzles in 10 minutes and receive three hints.
The player swaps two letter tiles at a time in any positions on the grid to create a word along a horizontal row. As long as they solve a single word in Daily mode each day, their stats are considered part of a leaderboard streak. The game tracks their time, swap count and play streak. It also track the words they find in a found words archive that displays definitions and grammar rules for each one.
Smartle allows the player to customize their avatar and username. They merely need to create an account.
